Honoring Tamayo Perry’s Legacy
Tamayo Perry was more than a world-class surfer and lifeguard — he was a joyful presence, a mentor, a man of deep faith, and a bright light in the surf community. His untimely passing left a deep void, but his legacy continues to inspire.
The Tamayo Perry Foundation is being created by those closest to him — family, friends, surfers, and community leaders — to ensure his spirit lives on by opening doors for the next generation.
Our Mission: To honor Tamayo’s legacy by connecting under-resourced youth to the ocean through surf, swim, safety, mentorship, and aloha.

Empowering Youth Through Ocean Connection
Who We Serve
Our programs will begin on the East Side of Oʻahu and North Shore, focused on youth from local, rural, and Native Hawaiian communities who might otherwise not have access to safe ocean experiences.
Grassroots Learn-to-Swim Programs on the East Side:
Our most urgent goal is to help ensure that all children growing up near the ocean have access to the lifesaving skill of swimming. We aim to build accessible, community-rooted swim programs where they are needed most.
Future Programs (Phase 2):
As we grow, we plan to launch initiatives such as the Surf Bus (transport + mentorship) and Board Libraries to remove gear and access barriers for keiki.
Expansion of the Junior Lifeguard Program:
We are committed to growing the reach and impact of Junior Lifeguard training opportunities for East Side youth.
Putting the FUN in Fundraising
Partnering with surfers, artists, musicians, and mentors to develop sustainable fundraising programs and events to fund our the development of our Island’s most precious asset, the next generation.
